Thin Metal Parts expands its precision manufacturing capabilities
Colorado Springs, CO – Thin Metal Parts, a US-based company and industry leader in the manufacture of custom metal parts for precision applications, has recently expanded its laser cutting capabilities by investing in a state-of-the-art UV laser.
“Thin Metal Parts continuously invests in new and improved technologies, pioneers innovative processes to stay one step ahead, and employs some of the brightest minds in the industry,” said Steve Trahey, COO of Thin Metal Parts. “The result is innovation-driven component manufacturing at the forefront of the industry—with tight-tolerance components, state-of-the-art quality inspection, and unparalleled customer service.”
Electric motors consist of small, thin, highly precise metal parts as well as lamination materials to insulate metal and wiring. These components require extremely precise cuts, and laser cutting is the best method to ensure accuracy and repeatability. Thin Metal Parts has a proven track record of high precision, tight tolerances, and repeatability, ensuring that you receive exactly the precision you need.
Thin Metal Parts has been laser-cutting components for many years, and integrating the new UV laser has expanded its ability to process materials such as Mylar, Kapton tape, PTFE, and Nomex paper.
What is a UV laser?
The shorter wavelength of ultraviolet (UV) lasers enables a shorter, more tightly focused laser beam, resulting in greater precision in the machining process. The material is cut without burrs and without mechanical pressure from the cutting tool. The shorter wavelength also causes no damage and does not alter the mechanical or electrical properties of the workpiece, making it ideal for non-metallic insulating materials.
Thin Metal Parts is an industry leader in a wide range of metalworking techniques, including Mylar exposure, custom laser cutting, electroforming, and chemical etching. In addition to custom manufacturing, we place great emphasis on excellent customer service. Customers benefit from exceptional responsiveness, short lead times, cost-effective solutions, and highly flexible, customizable manufacturing—from prototypes and small batches through to high-volume production.
